Digital Bussana Vecchia: Galleries and Shops
This page contains a perspective of the Bussana artists and shops. The methodology used is that of a digital village: Over time, I will attempt to register all galleries and shops in every street of the village, following a somewhat clockwise tour around town along the main streets.
Village entrance
Some hundred meter before you enter the historic parts of town, probably not too far from the place where you parked your car, you will find the Bonsai tree shop of Walter Frediani on your right hand side. The shop exists since the mid 1980's, so you can find many interesting specied of home-grown as well as acquired miniature trees. | ![]() |

Next place is the "Casacchia" restaurant. Dining is both inside and outside. From the outside seating area you have a nice view of the coast and the key flower centre of Valle Armea. In the past years, the Casacchia has seen good and bad times under various owners. In the last few years the ownership has been stable and the grilled steak is excellent. | ![]() |

You cannot miss the "Area di Manovra" or turning point area. The road stops at the village, and this is the last chance for you to turn your car. Via numerous signs, the visitors are encouraged not to park their car in this area. Once you experienced having to back up your car for several hundred meters with only inches between your car and the parked ones to get to the next turning point you'll understand why it is vital to kee this area free. Perpetraders may receive warnings in the form of a parking ticket or raised wish-washers if they're lucky. They may find two or more tires slashed if they manage to really anger the villagers. | ![]() |
The last house on the "via Bussana Vecchia", with number 95, is the home of retired blacksmith and ironworker Vasco. Well into his seventies, Vasco created many of the wrought iron doors and terrace ornaments for the villagers in his shop. Vasco has not given up his profession entirely, but does enjoy the good parts of his retirement and sips his wine on the terrace over his workshop. | ![]() |
